Pocahontas

Pocahontas is first seen being summoned by her friend Nakoma. It is revealed that Pocahontas has been having unusual dreams. Nakoma tells Pocahontas to speak with her father, Chief Powhatan, who has recently returned from war.

At the village, Pocahontas meets with her father, and learns that Kocoum, one of her fathers warriors, has asked to marry her. As a gift, Powhatan gives Pocahontas her mother’s necklace. Pocahontas doesn’t really want to marry Kocoum, but Powhatan (her father) feels that Kocoum would be a fine husband for Pocahontas.

Pocahontas goes to Grandmother Willow for some advice. After telling Grandmother Willow about her dream and her father’s plans for her arranged marriage, Grandmother Willow tells Pocahontas that her dream is pointing her down her path.

Pocahontas later meets one of the settlers, John Smith. They get to know each other,  John Smith unintentionally reveals his prejudices towards Native Americans. Pocahontas sings the ‘Colours of the Wind’ to him which makes John see the bad of his thoughts and change his ways, and the two begin to fall in love with each other.

Later, while picking corn with Nakoma, Pocahontas meets John Smith again. Pocahontas takes John to meet Grandmother Willow. After Smith leaves, Pocahontas worries. Grandmother Willow reminds Pocahontas of her dreams, and Pocahontas begins to suspect that her dream is pointing her towards John.

When going back to the village, Pocahontas sees that her village are planning to attack the settlers. Pocahontas sneaks off to meet John. After discovering each side wants to attack, John agrees to go with Pocahontas to see her father.

Kocoum becomes mad and attacks John Smith, when he sees him and Pocahontas kissing. Before Pocahontas can break them up, Thomas, who had been sent to find John, kills Kocoum by shooting him. John is taken prisoner by the Powhatan men, and sentenced to die at sunrise.

Pocahontas saves John Smith’s life.
